Esthers Staff

Barbara Barbara Kirk Owner of Esther’s, along with husband Jim. She grew up sewing and is now a novice quilter as well, though finding time to sew is hard while running the store!
 
Margret Margret Darrah The heart and soul of Esther’s, Margret has worked at Esther’s forever! Her expertise includes quilting, appliqué, and all kinds of needlework. She is an expert colorist – seek her out if you need any assistance in assembling fabric for a quilt, or any other sewing project.
 
AnneB Ann Borwick Ann applies her extensive training in fine arts to quilting and sewing.

Anne Jarnagin Anne has shared her years of experience in costume design and apparel sewing with customers at Esther’s for years.

 
Stacia

Stacia Neagle Stacia has a background in sculpture with interests in jewelry and textile arts of all sorts. She is also a Certified Feng Shui Consultant, having studied at the Blue Mountain Feng Shui Institute, and operates her own incense distribution company.

 
Alison

Allison Garrison Allison has jumped into sewing in the last several years producing clothing and accessories for herself, Halloween costumes for son, Will, and outdoor wear for dogs! Allison also teaches our one-on-one “Meet your Sewing Machine” course.

 
 

Sarah Fulford Sarah’s background in costume, apparel sewing, and pattern-making make her a terrific asset to all apparel sewers. She has most recently completed coursework in Fashion Pattern Cutting at the University of the Arts, London College of Fashion.

 
Kari

Kari Gray Kari’s sewing concentrates on home and personal accessories, of which you will see many during” Handmade at Esther’s.”

Julianne Cohen As a former university instructor, Julianne has invested many hours teaching adults. She applies that background, as well as her enthusiasm for sewing, to beginning sewing classes

 
John deChadenedes A self-taught sewing guy, John’s sewing experience includes everything from sports coats to sleeping bags! He eagerly shares his expertise with other guys.
 

Allison Garrison As a more recent sewing convert, Allison knows the importance of starting off on the right foot, hence her teaching the one-on-one “Meet Your Sewing Machine.”

 
 

Marybeth O’Halloran Our quilting mentor, Marybeth is an award-winning long-arm quilter with her own company, White Lotus Quilting. Marybeth leads the American Hero Quilt nights at Esther’s and teaches free motion quilting and other quilting techniques at Esther’s.

 
Johanna

Johanna Branley By day Johanna teaches Japanese at Madrona School, and also finds time to be an accomplished sewist and expert serger who teaches our one-on-one “Make Peace with Your Serger”.

 
 

Jeanette Schanilec Jeanette teaches our enthusiastic kids hand-sewing classes. She gets kids sewing and creating some of the most charming felt animals and accessories we’ve ever seen – the result of many years experience teaching craft classes for children on the Island.
