About Esther's Fabrics
Allow us to introduce ourselves. We are a longtime fabric shop on Bainbridge Island, a small town west of Seattle. Though you need to board a ferry to get to Bainbridge from Seattle, it is a quick 35 minute ferry ride and quite lovely at that. Our shop is nestled in the heart of downtown Bainbridge and an easy walk from the ferry.
Opened in 1959 by a woman named Esther Fox, we are one of the oldest fabric stores in Washington state. While Esther is no longer with us, her legacy certainly lives on in the shop she started. Piper Tupper is the current owner of Esther’s and she wants nothing more than for her love of fabric and sewing to be evident to customers when they walk through the door.
We offer a thoughtfully curated selection of quilting cottons, double gauze, silks, linens, a pretty fantastic selection of wools , high quality rayons, gorgeous apparel cottons ( Looking for Italian shirting? We got it, and it’s gorgeous. ) and so much more. We have an extensive selection of buttons and ribbons, and we provide the home dyer with natural botanical dyes and natural fabrics for dyeing. We have cross-stitch, sashiko, and embroidery supplies and kits, and beautiful merino wool felt.
Not a sewist…yet? We can help with our many classes for kids and adults. We have a well stocked and well spaced sewing studio and classroom. We teach group classes, one-on-one classes, by request classes and we offer long arm quilt machine rental.
