Frustrated with how most patterns fit you?  Are your projects a disappointment?  Want to make a skirt that fits you to a T?  Do you want to learn to design your own clothes?  Come learn how to draft a straight skirt pattern that can then be changed into almost any design that you want.  Interested in princess lines? how about pleats?  Gored skirt?  Once you know how to fit a straight skirt, you can design almost any type of skirt you want.  You must have had some experience in sewing skirts before.  You do not have to be an expert, but it is good to be able to sew seams, darts, and install zippers.

We will begin with taking measurements.  So you need to wear something somewhat form fitting so we can get an accurate waist and hip measurement.  We will first draft our patterns by using a pencil and ruler on paper.  Then, we will cut out your patterns on muslin and stitch them together.  If you do not finish, you can finish it for homework.  The second week we will try on and fit the muslins, and make adjustments to the pattern so that you have a fitted straight skirt sloper that you will then transfer to poster board.  We will also discuss how to make variations of the straight skirt pattern, such as princess seams, A-line, modified A-line, gored, etc.  You will walk out of the class with a straight skirt pattern, a modified A-line pattern, and a princess seam pattern, plus you will have a fitted muslin.  You will then be ready to sew your own custom fit skirts.
