Intermediate Garment Sewing for Teens 12+ August 6-9 1-4 pm

Want to expand beyond that first sleeveless garment? Come learn to add to your sewing skills.  We will select a pattern with the instructor's approval that will fit your learning style, desires and sewing level.  You will learn new skills beyond what you already know. You must know how to sew a basic garment before you enter this class, understand the basics of pattern layout, grain, cutting a pattern, and sewing a simple garment. We will pick out a pattern in the first class, and if needed select fabric for the project. The pattern is included in the cost of the class. You will need to bring your garment to the second class washed and ironed and ready to cut.

Instructor:  Susan Skalak

For the first day of class, you will need to bring (pattern included in class price):

  • a pencil,
  • notebook,
  • pins,
  • scissors,
  • Swedish pattern paper,
  • and 3 yards of muslin,
  • In the second class, you will need to purchase fabric, take it home and wash it.

During the first class we will pick out a suitable pattern from a selection of patterns for your skill level for your learning goals.  The class price includes the pattern price.

Later in the week, you will choose your fabric to make your garment after you have made the muslin and adjusted the muslin and the pattern to fit you.  You will need to choose and purchase your fabric and take it home and wash it.

Minimum Class Size:  There must be at least three people signed up for the class for it to proceed.  We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough people and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.

Cancellations:  You may cancel a class up to 7 days before the class begins.  However, less than 7 days will forfeit their class fee unless we can fill the spot from a waiting list, or you can send a friend.
