Kathy Doughty's Soul Searching June 30, 2018. 10 am - 4 pm

Esther's Fabrics welcomes Kathy Doughty from Australia as she brings an amazing class on exploring color and your own color preferences.  This is a workshop about you!  The fabrics you have collected define your tastes and choices.  In the Soul Searching workshop we will discuss how to use fabric to activate the stash, create interest and make exciting quilts.  At the end you should feel more confident when looking for fabrics for your next quilt. We keep these classes small (maximum 10 people, so you will receive lots of individualized attention).

Kathy Doughty started quilting in 1993 when she moved to Australia from the U.S.  In 2003 she opened Material Obsession where quilters are encouraged to play with textiles, design and method, especially by the way of adding layers. The store features unique classes and now attracts from visitors around the world.

Kathy explores a variety of quiltmaking techniques, from traditional to contemporary.  She has co-authored two books and also has two books on her own. Her latest book, coming out next month from C&T Publishing, is called “Mixing Quilt Elements: A Modern Look at Color, Style & Design.” Readers are encouraged to make quilts reflective of their own style.
