Esther's Fabrics welcomes Kathy Doughty from Australia as she brings an amazing class on exploring applique designs for your quilt!   Explore applique designs that are inspired by the environment that surrounds us if you prefer, one that is imagined!  Simple shapes and layout make designing your own project a rewarding experience.  We will practice needle turn applique using Wash Away Applique paper and other turning techniques.  We will also cover selecting fabric, auditioning for shapes, composition and moreThis class includes a copy of the book Mixing Quilt Elements by Kathy Doughty.  We keep these classes small (maximum 10 people, so you will receive lots of individualized attention).

Kathy Doughty started quilting in 1993 when she moved to Australia from the U.S.  In 2003 she opened Material Obsession where quilters are encouraged to play with textiles, design and method, especially by the way of adding layers. The store features unique classes and now attracts from visitors around the world.

Kathy explores a variety of quiltmaking techniques, from traditional to contemporary.  She has co-authored two books and also has two books on her own. Her latest book, coming out next month from C&T Publishing, is called “Mixing Quilt Elements: A Modern Look at Color, Style & Design.” Readers are encouraged to make quilts reflective of their own style.
